Yoga Therapy for Hip Imbalance |
|
Many hip problems are a direct result of injury or accident (which can also include an injury from a vigorous or inappropriate yoga practice). But many hip problems are also the result of cumulative stress due to more subtle patterns of everyday body use. It can manifest as a stiffness around the hip joint, problems with balance, lower back or sacroiliac joint pain, knee issues or simply as inability to sit on the floor in the cross-legged position.
In this 6 week series we will explore the possible origin of the hip problems, including muscular imbalance, chronic muscular contractions and muscle weakness. Once we identify the problem pattern we will focus on stretching what needs to be stretched and strengthening what needs to be strengthened.
The primary goal of the series is to relieve pain and give you the tools to make the problematic area more stable and, at the same time, more flexible. |
