Exploring Human Energy System

According to the yoga tradition from the moment of birth it is prana (life force) that organizes, activates, and animates our physical bodies. When the flow of prana is restricted or impeded the whole system becomes imbalanced and prone to disease. We can learn to work with our energy through breath and movement to access our physiological and emotional stress levels and ultimately improve the general quality of our lives.

WE WILL EXPLORE HOW TO:

  • Change your energy level (perk up or unwind);
  • Improve the quality of your sleep and morning energy;
  • Strengthen the immune system;
  • Stimulate vital bodily functions;
  • Attain better emotional control and equilibrium.

PROGRAM CONTENT

Week 1: Life takes our breath away, how do we get it back? (Western approach).
Week 2: Directing the life force (Eastern approach).
Week 3: Changing the energy levels - perking up.
Week 4: Changing the energy levels - unwinding and restoring balance.
Week 5: Stability and ease in yoga practice and beyond.
Week 6: 5 currents of prana and their effect on the system.
Week 7: Ayurvedic wisdom. Vata Type: Light, quick and changeable as air.
Week 8: Ayurvedic wisdom. Pitta Type: Passionate, determined and intense as fire.
Week 9: Ayurvedic wisdom. Kapha Type:
Week 10: Practice review. Introduction to meditation.

PRACTICE EMPHASIS: Asana (physical postures) and Pranayama (breath work).
In the second part of the program the focus shifts from gross to more subtle levels of our system. Using the combination of breathing techniques and movement we will explore the deepest layers of our system and learn how to activate and harmonize them.
