Anna Murphy-Moore, LAc, yoga teacher

Anna is a licensed acupuncturist and yoga instructor. She began her yoga and Chinese medicine studies while living in Southern Taiwan as a student of Chinese language and culture. She spent two of her six years in Taiwan studying Chinese reflexology, acupressure massage, cupping and basic acupuncture technique from a local practitioner. She worked with this teacher in his clinic and also in local temples where they practiced volunteer medicine. In 2003 she traveled to the Yucatan to complete an intensive yoga teacher training program through Integral Yoga.

In 2005 she returned to the United States to continue her yoga teacher training through Integrated Yoga therapy and to begin her formal Chinese medicine studies through the National College of Natural Medicine’s Classical Chinese Medical department, from which she received a Masters degree in Oriental Medicine and an advanced degree in classical Chinese studies. During her time at NCNM, she learned to heal using multiple Chinese medical modalities including acupuncture, herbal medicine, Chinese body work, medical application of qi gong (a form of martial art) and nutritional counseling. She was also able to return to South East Asia multiple times to learn from master doctors.

After graduation, Anna began a residency under Dr. Heiner Fruehauf, the founder of the Chinese medicine program at NCNM, in his private clinic where he specializes in chronic pain, autoimmune disease, chronic parasitism, Lyme disease and cancer. Anna continues to study under Dr. Fruehauf and incorporates his herbal lineage into her own clinical practice. In her private practice, Anna utilizes Chinese medical modalities in addition to therapeutic movement. She feels that this combination allows patients to be active participants in their own healing process and to more deeply understand their own bodies and path to sustained health.

Ario Lynch

Ario Lynch, licensed massage therapist

Ario received his massage and bodywork training from East West College in Portland, where he completed an 801 hour program, including 67 hours of specialty training in traditional Thai, deep tissue and Shiatsu. Inspired to learn more he traveled to Thailand to receive an additional 60 hours of training in Thai massage and later completed a course on Structural Bodywork (2012) taught by Alex Susbauer, a Certified Structural Integrator.

Ario was first inspired to pursue a career in massage after receiving regular massage and chiropractic more than seven years ago. Through his studies he deepened his intuitive touch and ability to connect with clients. Many years into working with the body, Ario is continually amazed and inspired by how massage can so effectively facilitate awareness and change in one’s body mechanics and patterns.

Ario’s goal for the client is to get their body ‘right with gravity’, restoring ease and integrity to both structure and muscle function. He draws from a large pool of techniques to accomplish this, including passive and active stretching and movement, various muscle energy techniques, and fascial release. Ultimately, Ario chooses method(s) that will be most effective and appropriate for the client. He also educates his clients about the importance of self-care as he believes that the awareness and insights the client leaves a session with are as critical in attaining balance as the bodywork itself.

RATES: $55/hour, $85/90 min., $110/2 hrs + affordable sliding scale to all who are interested.

MODALITIES OFFERED: Integrative deep tissue/fascial release; traditional Thai

Marjorie Scarlett

Marjorie Scarlett, licensed massage therapist (License ##18554)

Therapeutic Bodywork and Somatic Awareness

Using touch, movement, and focused verbal exchange, Marjorie works with clients to bring awareness and release to areas of pain, discomfort, and limitation in the body. Her primary bodywork modalities are Jin Shin Jyutsu and Tuina.

The focus of her work in “somatic awareness” is on bringing attention to the unconscious habits of mind/body that create and hold patterns of tension in the body and lead, over time, to postural problems, pain, and difficulty in movement. In her own life, she has found that through simple awareness applied diligently, unwanted habits can change and healing can begin.

Marjorie is available for sessions at Potentials Wellness Center on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Appointments can be booked online or by phoning her directly at 971-258-1088.

Her fee is $80 per hour if insurance is billed and $60 per hour with payment at time of service. If you book and pay in advance for four sessions, there is an additional discount of $10 per hour. Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement.

Before moving to Portland three years ago, she was a Licensed Massage Practitioner in Washington state for eight years; she is now licensed in Oregon. Martha Pfleeger,
certified and licensed Rolfer®, certified laban movement analyst

Martha is a dedicated, advanced practitioner with 28 years experience. She has developed skills to work with challenging cases and can modify her approach for nearly all age groups and levels of health. While she continues to study and train in the science and methodology of bodywork, what keeps her fully engaged over all these years are the rewarding, co-creative therapeutic relationships she forms with her clients.

Martha's touch is targeted to achieve maximum clinical benefits and postural improvement, yet it is very comforting. Reiki I and II trainings awakened her to the practice of flowing energy rather than applying force to evoke change. She will listen and observe intently, then follow your body's unwinding and pacing as it releases into higher levels of organization and balance. Movement cues and education about principles of alignment will help bring your newfound potentials to conscious awareness.

The Rolf Institute of Structural Integration (1500+ hour certification program in postural re-alignment therapy)
The Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies (1500+ hour training in movement observation, analysis and education)
